Beachbody Insanity Workout

A few months ago a co-worker of mine started talking about the Beachbody Insanity Workout by Shaun T. Every day she would come into work talking about how difficult her workout was the night before.
Here is was going to the gym every day, working my butt of and thinking, “please, your workout can’t be that hard!” The more and more I heard about her workouts, seeing the meals that she was eating, and the results she was getting, the more I started to become intrigued by this workout… 3 weeks later I broke and bought the 10 CD set off amazon.com.
I wanted to see what the hype was all about!

Here I sit in Week 6, day 4 of the Insaniy Workout and my entire body hates me. My arms are burning, my legs yell at me every morning when I swing them off the side of the bed, and my abs cringe when I laugh. But the best part is that people are starting to see how toned I’ve gotten.

I’m not much for weight lifting… I know, I know, muscle burns fat, but I just can’t get myself to lift weights. It’s so boring to me. I’m definitely a cardio girl by heart. The Insanity Workout is a perfect mixture of cardio and muscle building through your own body-weight.

The Insanity Workout is a total of 60 days- 2 months. The first month is only a foundation for what’s to come in month 2. This week marks the first month of month #2 and I love every sore minute of it. I’m drenched in sweat before the stretching hits and by the end of the CD’s I’m lying on the floor attempting to catch my breath and quickly apologize to my muscles while convincing them that they won’t regret it in the end. My body is starting to transform and I love it!

With a total of 10 CDs, this workout is by far the toughest workout video that I have ever attempted. The one thing that I have learned throughout this experience is dedication. It was so much easier to workout when I was just a student, but now I’m balancing being a student, wife, and work. The minute I started having to wake up at 4am for work was the minute my workouts were thrown out the window.

With this 60 day workout plan, I have learned that with dedication, a workout can never be missed. I dedicated the next 60 days to this workout the minute I pressed play to the Insanity Workout. No matter how tired or how sore I am, I continue to press play because of the goal I set for myself.

Even though you might not be doing something like Beachbody’s Insanity Workout, what are you exercise goals? Do you find it easier to get off the couch and head out to the gym when you have set a goal for yourself?

I have done P90X and I love it. I am a total weight girl though. I want to do Insanity but I have really bad knees from soccer. My right locks all the time, so I’m nervouse the jumping will hurt it. I am so excited for you that you love it tho!! Working out SHOULD be fun!
I have a hard time making my workouts a priority. I always seem to find something else that I “should” be doing instead. I realize that my health needs to be a top priority and have been able to make myself fit in a work out on a regular basis. My sister in law started the insanity workout and loved it! I have a fear of committing myself to 60 days of working out 6 days a week though!
I am so glad you posted this. I told my husband a few weeks that I wouldlike this set off Amazon. I too love cardio and using my own body weight is more appealing to me than weights, although I do like lifting weights and use them daily. Will you being doing a full review of the workout after you have finished? Have fun.
I’ve never tried insanity! I have lifted before, to the style of the NROLFW, and loved it! =) My exercise goals are basically to keep my heart rate up and stay healthy. I have simple goals.
I just came across your blog this morning and will definitely be subscribing. Shaun T caught my attention. I finished the Insanity program in June and miss looking at Shaun T every morning (I have a little crush on him). Insanity was such an incredible workout. I have never pushed myself like that before. It really improved my endurance which has helped my running. I was laughing while reading that you were drenched in sweat by the time the stretching hit – that is no exaggeration! Even the warm-up is tiring!
One of my guy friends from school was telling me about Insanity the other day and how tough it was. After reading this, I will be adding it to my “I need/want to buy this” list.
I’m glad you like this workout! I am currently using TurboFire and I love it. I am starting to lift weights again and it def makes a big difference in how my body looks and feels!
I would love to try this workout! I really need some toning action. Kids can do that to you.
I have no problem getting motivated to go to the gym, but sometimes my knee injuries get in the way!
I borrowed that from a friend, but have yet to do it every day! I’ll do one, then wait another day or so, I need to do it every day!
I just started using the Insanity DVDs, and they really are a killer! I’m not following the 60-day plan exactly (I’m actually only doing the workouts 3 days per week so that I can still keep up with other types of exercises I enjoy), but so far I’m loving it!
I stated reading about this workout about a year or so again.. It looks like you be in moderate shape before trying it & I have read off either WebMD or ACE that risk of injury is higher if you try this as a beginner. Based on what I have seen on TV, I might agree but you can tell us better!
It looks like an awesome workout & one I would do IF I worked out at home. I am a weight lover so funny that we have exact opposite thoughts. Cardio bores me & weights are so interesting & fun to me… although I do a ton of cardio anyway!!!
Keep us updated. I have no doubt that this program is transforming you!
I’ve never gone threw the 90 day program but have done quite a few of the DVDs and I have never sweat so much in my life!
I have heard so many good things about these videos! Glad it kicked/is kicking your booty. Love that feeling. Yes, goals totally help revitalize me. Right now- I’m working on perfecting my teaching form.
I love insanity. I love any workout that is hard core like that.
i know what you mean, i absolutely love cardio, but strength training is just so boring to me! glad to hear you’re enjoying this workout though!
i don’t really have set “goals”, but running makes me feel so good that that motivates me enough.:)
Insanity sounds awesome! I can’t wait to try it….right after my pulled hamstring heals! Ugh, it’s really held me back, but I’m taking it easy because I don’t want to have a longterm problem!
Insanity is ridiculous. When month 2 came around I was like “you’ve got to be kidding me…10 more minutes of this stuff.” However, my legs and entire core area became very strong.
I got to do a group workout with Shaun T before and it was intense. Sweat was flying every where. The guy knows what he’s talking about.
I just found you site via Yahoo and I have to say I am glad I did as I have now bookmarked it.
