Exercise Motto: Don’t Think, Just Do!

n139000443 30232350 9449 225x300 Exercise Motto: Dont Think, Just Do!Diving is a mental sport. As a springboard diver in college, I use to freak myself out on the boards because I would think too much into my dive… the fear of hitting the board, loosing my balance, or hitting the water at the wrong angle. A teammate of mine once said, “ Don’t think, just do.” This motto helped me push through those mental blocks and eventually led me to nationals.

These days I still look to this motto. There are days that I wake up and dread the cold, the aching muscles from the workout the day before, or just no motivation to get out of bed to workout. The holidays don’t make it any easier for those that have taken a break. It’s hard to get back into the swing of things.

I have found that the motto, “Don’t think, just do,” has helped me overcome these days. When it comes to exercise, “don’t think, just do it.” Wake up in the morning and head straight to those shoes… don’t think about the cold, how tired you are, or what needs to get done that morning. You won’t regret it!

Wow, thanks for commenting on my blog. I’m glad you found me, and in turn I found your blog. :)

Great message in this post. I truly believe a lot of success and failure is mental. I’ve been battling this during my workouts. My trainer will say “yes, you can do this” and I’ll say “no, I can’t” and when I just stop thinking about it and analyzing it to death I find that I really CAN do it. Sometimes you have to remove the thinking portion from the equation.

I do so much better when I just go by auto-pilot from work to the gym. I just make it a part of my routine.

I like that motto. Might have to adopt it for myself! I definitely achieve much more exercise-wise if I don’t overthink it at all. It’s all about the ACTION!

It’s been so long since I’ve read your blog! Not because I don’t like it, by any means, I’ve just been so busy and my blog has picked up pace since I did a Barney Butter giveaway several months ago (wow, giveaways can really pull other readers!). Anyway, this post was great, as I try to live by this motto everyday! I read a book once that basically described how stress is caused by thinking. Therefore it makes sense that if you think too much about anything you will get stressed and sort of “freak out” like when you wanted to dive. I used to dive too, and I would always think too much about it….which was never helpful! Thanks for the reminder to stay in the moment and just live life as it goes…go with the flow!

My motto is the same as yours. Exercise has become a deep-rooted habit for me. Without it, I just feel weird, and the day is just…not the same!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I loosely follow the motto “You will never regret a workout” and it helps a lot. Even if I had a crappy workout, it was still time that I devoted to myself, treated myself well, and did something good for my body.

I am definitely going to follow along!

Great post! I live by the motto of “Just get it done!”. I treat my workouts like part of my schedule and they can’t be missed, so just get it over with already and you will feel better afterwards!

I love watching diving! But why do I swear I possess the expertise the judge the dives? It’s fun to be a fake judge.
