Fiber One Yogurt Pie Recipe

by She FIt on August 1, 2009

Has anyone tried Fiber One’s four newest additions to the family?

YOPLAIT FIBER ONE 300x215 Fiber One Yogurt Pie RecipeIn honor of my previous post on the important of fiber, I am pleased to announce that Fiber One has joined up with Yoplait yogurt to create four great tasting yogurts… and it’s Hungry-girl approved!

Personally I am not a huge fan of Yoplait yogurt, but when I saw that Fiber One came out with these bad boys I thought I might just give them a try. Most Yoplait yogurts are loaded with sugar, but these are only 4g! With a whooping 50 calories, 0g fat, and 5g of fiber you are sure to stay within your calorie range for the day.

Unlike most loaded fiber products, these taste nothing close to cardboard or chalk … really, none of Fiber Ones products that I have tried come even close to those descriptions. I tried their strawberry flavor, which was amazing! They also come in peach, vanilla, and key lime.

Since we are on the topic of my one true love, I though I would share with you one of my favorite yogurt recipe that is extremely simple to make!

Yogurt Pie . . . A sweet, low fat, low calorie dessert that is to die for!

PIE SHELL

2230fiberone 134x150 Fiber One Yogurt Pie RecipeIngredients:

* 2 cups Fiber One Cereal

* 4 tbsp. LAND O LAKES Whipped Light Butter; melted

Directions:

- Begin by preheating oven to 350 degrees.

- In a blender or food processor, grind Fiber One to a breadcrumb-like consistency.

- Combine crumbs with melted butter and stir until well mixed.

- In an oven-safe pie dish sprayed with nonstick spray, evenly distribute Fiber One mixture, using your hands or a flat utensil to press & form the crust. Use your fingers to press it into the edges and up along the sides of the dish.

- Bake pie shell for 10 minutes. Set aside.

PIE FILLING

Ingredients:

* 2 containers (6oz each) Fiber One Strawberry Yogurt

* 1 tub (8oz) Fat-Free Cool Whip

Directions:

- In a large mixing bowl, combine fat-free yogurt and cool whip

- Pour mixture into pie shell and freeze

- Place in refrigerator (uncovered) at least two hours or until set

For this recipe, strawberry yogurt is my favorite but any flavor works.

What flavor would you choose?

I am a big fan of the yo-plus yogurt. Lately I haven’t been eating anything but greek yogurt, though. 15g of protein!!!

That recipe looks really good. I like the idea of using Fiber One cereal as a pie-crust instead of graham crackers.

I’m all about Fiber-One, as I eat it every morning, but as for the yogurt, it’s not my thing. The fiber they use in the yogurt is actually not scientifically shown to have the same benefits as actualy soluble and insoluble fibers. The fiber in the yogurt are isolated fibers, and aren’t viscious, therefore they don’t have the same benefits as other fibers. Check out my blog, on the side there is a like devoted to fiber, check it out!

wow that is quite an interesting pie! I like the idea of being abel to have a healthy breakfast with pie :-)

I think that sounds really good. I’d never have thought to use that for the pie crust! I know Yoplait yogurts have a lot of sugar, but I do like the taste of the Fiber One!

HONESTLY- no it does not taste like cheese. When I eat soy products I approach it as a new taste- but if you like soy, its an okay alternative :) I’ve also noticed that fat free cheese doesn’t upset my stomach as much… Maybe less fat= less lactose? I have no clue.. but I can make a grilled cheese w/ a slice of fat free cheese & I have no problem whereas if I use full fat cheese I get really upset stomaches! I hope that helped.. :)

How interesting!! But is there aspartame in it? Because there is in the cereal, so I try to avoid that.

Hey! Thanks so much for the comment!
Its funny how hard it can be to just take a compliment at face value, but hopefully that will become easier for both of us to do.
I have been checking out your blog, and its really great :)
I especially love this idea of a yogurt pie!
If only they had fiber one yogurt up here in Canada!! Maybe I’ll try it out with a yogurt variety available up here in the north :)
xx

I’m so addicted to Greek yogurt.

I agree with Tay. I always stay from aspartame.

I have tried these before and tehy were pretty tasty. I think it was just the Fiber One kind before they merged with Yoplait. Not sure. I like the idea of exta fiber but I’m not sure it’s necessary in stuff like yogurt if you’re eating your veggies, fruits, and wholegrains! Good in a pinch though, right?
Thanks for the pie crust recipe!

The pie looks gorgeous, of course I’m a freak for anything with ff Coolwhip. LOL. Thanks for the review of FiberOne. I hadn’t tried it because I was afraid the calorie count was too high. Even tho I like Yoplait light, I don’t buy it for that same reason. I’ll have to try it. I’ve pretty much stuck with WeightWatchers or Dannon.

mmm wow these look pretty good and their nutrition facts sound even better! definately let us know how they are!

I love this recipe, you can really substitute any kind of yogurt! I think a banana cream pie would be yummy! Using the crust with plain chobani yogurt with cool whip and bananas!

Carla August 2, 2009 at 12:51 pm

Looks good.. yum! Save me a peice! ;) I’m loyal to my Activia yogurt.. vanilla is my fave.. yum!

CaSaundra August 2, 2009 at 5:14 pm

Ooo what a fun idea! Love desserts that provide a hefty dose of fiber. I would use the Light Banana Creme Pie Yogurt from Walmart’s Great Value off-brand! It’s a dessert by itself!

Robin August 3, 2009 at 7:54 am

i am loving fiber one, they do good stuff.

Kelly August 6, 2009 at 6:45 pm

I love Greek yogurt with fruit or honey added in.

That said, I bet the Key Lime yogurt would make a delicious pie!

Andrea September 17, 2009 at 1:54 pm

I am a big fan of Activia and they just came out with a key lime flavor that is delicious. It tastes just like the filling in a key lime pie which is what got me looking for a yogart pie recipe in the first place. I like all the ideas posted and will have to try them. I’ll let you know if I do the key lime and how it turns out. :-)

lynn January 25, 2010 at 12:51 pm

She FIt January 26, 2010 at 5:31 am

There is 165 calories in 1/8 of a slice. I also enjoy making it without the crust which makes it about 100 calories
