Happy National Running Day

Happy National Running Day!
I would be lying if I told you I was a runner. Throw me on an elliptical and I set for an hour + but put me on a treadmill and I’m passing out in less than 2 minutes with major side cramps.
In light of National Running day I thought it would be a perfect day to pick up running since I needed to break-in my new NikeLuna Elite +2 shoes.

And I would be lying to say that I bought these shoes for running. They were just too cute to belong on the shelf! The ipod chip was my husband’s idea. Although I was really excited to get it, I have yet to do so… Ops.

My intentions were to wake up early to start my running adventure. Unfortunately I woke up too late and the heat was in full blast. Not to mention we live on a university setting (my husband is a resident director) so all the employees were out and about. Talk about embarrassing!
Fortunately for me, Bootcamp was today.
And with bootcamp came running!
One of the many joys of living in a dorm is enjoying the many benefits the school has to offer for the students… like a full down gym with gym classes led by either fitness instructors or coaches.

Although I almost threw up doing sprints in between circuits, it was well worth it when I looked down at my heart rate monitor at the end of the 45-minute class to see my calorie burn.

Probably caused by the heat more than the actual exercises! Who exercises in the middle of the desert during the summer?!?!?! I guess I do.

After coming home to a cool bowl of strawberries I found myself in bed for the hope of taking a few hour nap. And of course I wake up 45 minutes later. I swear my body hates me.
Well, I work tonight at the hospital. Hopefully the soreness wont’ kick in till tomorrow at 8am when I will find myself snuggled up in bed.
I hear Starbucks calling my name, so I better go! Have a great night.

Sprints kill me! We had to do them in boot camp and I hated it. However, those strawberries look like the perfect post-workout snack
I’m impressed that you gave it such a great shot. I used to run, but now I’m a walker. The older I get, the less my body wants to move that fast.
