bwings Hungry Girl: Low Calorie Buffalo Wing RecipeOne of my favorite foods I have fallen in love with recently are boneless buffalo wings, especially from Chili’s Bar and Grill. But who would have thought that those little guys could contain 910 calories and 58g of fat!!!! WOW! These little guys need to be handcuffed and sent straight to jail. But have no fear, Hungry Girl is here!

Here is a great Buffalo Wing recipe that only contains 175 calories and a whooping 1.5g fat. I could have 5 servings for the place of one at Chili’s! Way to go Hungry Girl

HungryGirl’s H-O-T Hot Boneless Buffalo Wings

Ingredients

8 oz. raw boneless skinless lean chicken breast, cut into 10 nugget-shaped pieces

1/4 cup Fiber One bran cereal (original), ground to a breadcrumb-like consistency in a blender or food processor

1 oz. (about 14 crisps) Pringles Light Fat Free Potato Crisps, Barbecue (or another fat-free BBQ-flavored potato chip)

3 tbsp. Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce

dash onion powder

dash garlic powder

dash cayenne pepper

dash black pepper

dash salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Crush potato crisps completely and, in a small dish, mix with cereal crumbs. Add a dash of each of the seasonings and mix well. Place chicken pieces in a separate dish, and cover and toss with Frank’s RedHot. Spray a baking pan with nonstick spray. Give each chicken piece a shake (so it’s not dripping with RedHot), and then coat it evenly with the crumb mixture. Lay the battered nuggets on the baking pan. Place in the oven, and bake for 10 minutes. Then flip the wings over, and return them to the oven for 10 more minutes, or until outsides are crispy and chicken is cooked throughout. MAKES 2 SERVINGS

I know this sounds awful, but I don’t really care for Hungry Girl’s recipes. I prefer to enjoy real foods, instead of chemicals and fillers, and refuse to affix words like “guilt” onto a full-fat, full-calorie version of a treat.

However, I can appreciate how somebody who is trying to reduce their calorie intake would enjoy her recipes. =) Thank you for sharing this recipe with us!

I’m going to be honest here…I do not like Hungry Girl. Although I like the concept…she makes a lot of her recipes with “fake” foods. I think some of her recipes are great…I just don’t want to eat a chemical…I want to eat real food!….sorry if I offend!

On a nicer note- I hope you’re having a great weekend

I used to make Hungry Girl recipes! I like how she uses things like cereal to coat meat – I took that idea and coated meat with ground down oatmeal!

I have to say, I think Hungry Girl has a lot of great recipes (this one included!) but I don’t always agree with her nutrition philosophies. That’s ok though, as I know not everyone always agrees with mine either, but I guess I don’t really go to her site or read her books because I have a different opinion than her many times. Needless to say, these wings look FABULOUS!

These wings look great! I own all three Hungry Girl cookbooks and occasionally use them for inspiration in recipes, however I’ll often swap the “diet” stuff for ingredients that are less processed and contain more fat (*gasp*!). :-)

I subscribe to the HG emails but don’t do a lot of her recipes anymore b/c I’d rather eat real food that a bunch of high sodium, fat-free and sugar-free substitutes. In the past, I have enjoyed the jalapeno poppers, stuffed peppers, baked butternut squash fries, kale chips, and the “McRib” sandwich. My all time favorite that I still make is the falafel pita pockets b/c it’s actually real food and tastes fabulous!

I love Hungry Girl’s recipes, although some use too many fakey ingredients…however, I love her concepts and I have actually made these before and they are mighty tasty!
