In light of all the exercise and nutrition tips, I have to place a disclaimer that I’m not the healthiest girl on the block and don’t know everything about health and fitness. I don’t exercise every day, I don’t eat salads for every meal, and I don’t have a 6-pack. While these tips here at she-fit come from thought provoking activities or conversation with other people, I still struggle with putting down the chip bag or late night snacking.
This blog started out the first summer of nursing school. After graduating with a previous degree in Kinesiology, I was having a hard time realizing that my education would be put to waste. I thought, why not start a blog where I put my knowledge to the test. Really, it was just a project for my self since I’m such a busy body and I had nothing else to do. When it’s 120 degrees outside, there is nothing else better to do but hibernate inside with the A/C blasting, blinds closed, and lights off… it’s the only way to survive.
The summer was a great start to blogging. I had all the time in the world and it definitely kept me busy while keeping up with everyone’s blogs. But once nursing school started back up, I got lost in the mix of nursing school books that blogging was put on the back burner. . . and so did my priority to staying healthy and fit. Those late nights of studying and clinicals lead to more snacking that I wanted. Not to mention that my job in nursing school consisted of sitting for 12 hours in a hospital room with crazy patients… literally crazy and drove me crazy sitting for 12 hours without anything to do but stare at someone I didn’t know. Granite there were the patients that I really enjoyed talking to. But needless to say, sitting for 12 hours wasn’t helpful in my attempt to stay active.
Now, an official Registered Nurse, I have a life back! Which means, I’m back to blogging, exercising, eating healthy… and running about the hospital floors at 2am. A much needed change after going through college twice.
And so here I am. I thought it would be fun to start blogging section of how I am re-incorporating health and fitness back into my life. Obviously it is more so accountability for me to stay on track. So, I hope that you will join me in staying accountable together as we share life together in the World Wide Web.

Wow, what a story. That pizza looks delicious!! Congrats on being a registered NURSE!
Sometimes the people that are docs & nurses * health professionals are not always the healthiest themselves. Congrats for putting it out there & for getting back on track & for helping people!
It’s so true! That is one thing that I noticed when I started working in the hospital. It’s kind of hard to lecture patients on their health when the one teaching it isn’t living by the advice they give.
Congrats on finishing nursing school and becoming a registered nurse! I have similar struggles and challenges. I’m a junior high health teacher and I am always trying lead by example and not be a hypocrite. It’s tough! Especially when things get so busy. Maybe we can help each other stay accountable
Congratulations! You have the right idea. Everything in moderation, or life and food wouldn’t be fun.
