It never fails on my days to sleep in I am wide-awake at 4am. After sleeping all day yesterday I guess I just didn’t need that much sleep. Unfortunately my body regretted that around 2pm when it realized it wouldn’t get a break till, well… now.

Tossing and turning in bed, I finally got up, opened the windows and enjoyed a nice quiet morning in prayer. A perfect way to kick of my day!

This morning I had my last class that the hospital makes all new grad nurses go though in which you work with fake patients. The teacher starts off by stating, “If you can’t talk to fake patients naturally than we are going to have a real problem in the work place.” Sorry lady, but there is a huge difference between real patients and fake ones.

By 1pm my stomach was not very happy since I hadn’t fed it since 4am. And while food sounded great, I was right by my favorite Fro-Yo place, Yogurtland.

After sampling almost every flavor I opted for the No Sugar Added Acai Berry as well as Guava Pineapple.  To make it a “meal,” I added kiwi, boysenberries, chopped almonds, and granola. A PERFECT combination.

As they say, you should never go to the grocery store hungry so it was perfect timing to stop by on the way home to stock up on food so my parents don’t go hungry this weekend at their stay here.

THE RENTS ARE HERE!

The hummus I just bought was screaming my name around 3pm so I cracked open the pretzel bag and garlic hummus for some healthy fats to tide me over till dinner.

The Rents finally got in town and we headed out to meet my grandparents for dinner at Lucilles BBQ. Probably one of the best BBQ places I have ever been to.

And of course they bring out their infamous biscuits with apple butter… Unfortunately this biscuit sat solo all night. I wasn’t about to ruin my healthy eating with this little guy!

1 is the loneliest number that I've ever seen

1 Biscuit, 600, 12g, 40g, 0g

We ended up ordered the family pack which came with chicken, ribs, and 4 sides. The portions for this meal were out of control for the number of people it says could feed. Leftovers anyone?

In light of my attempt to continue eating healthy, I found the will power to opt for a side salad and diced up some of the chicken to make my own BBQ chicken salad. My fork my have found it’s way to each side for a bite… as well as a few fries. Maybe the willpower wasn’t as strong as I thought icon smile Three Generations Together in Phoenix

There is nothing like have your parents come out to visit. Although completely exhausted and grumpy, it was great to catch up and enjoy each other’s company over dinner and show them where we live.
