The hospital floor that I work on has been a psych ward lately… one too many crazies for me to handle. But last night was a complete 360 degree turn from the lately “norm.” The patients were amazing and I could actually hold a normal conversation with them. Needless so say, I was done charting and passing meds within and hour and a half besides the random pain meds. Ten and a half hours of nothing… pure bliss till 3am and the head was nodding as my eyes started getting to heavy to keep open.
I darted home, grabbed a quick bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and was out like a light by 8am. Just in time for my alarm clock to go off at 1pm. No time to sleep when the college room was in town for the day. And did I mention it was her birthday?
My first thought upon waking was C-A-F-F-E-I-N-E! Starbucks Mocha Light Frap was on the first of my list before meeting up to get a pedicure and catch up on the last year of life in which she has just come back from America after living in the Philippians working in an orphanage . . . take about an adjustment!
Now that my toes are complete I can model my new Rainbow sandals… can you believe this California girl had never own Rainbows? It’s a disgrace to all of California and I deeply apologize. Pretty sure these sandals are going to change my feet’s’ lives forever!
On the way to dinner I was so dehydrated that I downed two water bottles within seconds. One thing that I noticed about working the night shifts is that I function off caffeine which leaves little to no room for water. One thing to start working on!
To celebrate the college roommate’s birthday we decided on Maizie’s Cafe & Bistro in downtown phoenix. This place is one of my all time favorite spots to eat at in phoenix. Unfortunately outdoors seating wasn’t even an option in my book when it’s 115 degrees outside… I don’t even know why they offer.
This time around it seems like the menu has expanded however they offer everything from burgers and sandwiches to salads and pizza. I opted for the Southwestern Chicken Salad with dressing on the side and passed on the bread.
The roommate got the same dish but as a wrap and sweet potatoes fries… hands down the best sweet potatoes fries in all of Phoenix!
After dinner and the roommate flying back home to Cali, the husband and I headed to target where I snuck some dried fruit and yogurt covered raisin mix into the cart. SNACK TIME!
Note to self: Don’t eat a snack right before working out! I almost threw up but I was able to manage through an hour of Turbo Kick.
After working all night long, sleeping for 5 hours and a fun filled day, I am exhausted and ready for bed. Good night!
