PinExt No Time to Exercise

Seriously, where does time go in a day?

busy 300x207 No Time to ExerciseDoesn’t it seem the older one gets, the faster time flies by. As a child, I swear time stood still… just staring at the clock for recess. Now I am just hoping for a few minutes in my day to sit and relax. So in the hectic lives we live, how can we fit in 30 minutes to a hour of daily exercise?

The reality is, we aren’t always going to have a huge chunk of time to hit the gym! Most of us usually just skip exercising entirely. I know if I don’t have an hour to workout out, I just throw my hands up in the air and say forget about it.

It’s a great excuse, don’t you think?

Hmm, ok… maybe not!

exerciseofficeball main Full1 150x150 No Time to ExerciseThis “all or nothing” mentality. Exercise doesn’t only come in the form of 30 minutes or an hour. Split up your workouts on your busy days. Three, 10-minute workouts have been proven to be just as beneficial as working out for 30 minutes straight.

Go for a 15-minute run in the morning. Jump rope for 10 minutes before breakfast, Use 15 minutes out of your lunch break to take a walk or climb up and down your business’s stairs. Go for a short 10 minute evening stroll or bike ride with the family.

No more excuses… Just do it!

Something is better than nothing.

So true! It’s up to you to make time to exercise, even jut for a little bit! And I find the more consistently I exercise, the easier/natural it gets to find time.

Happy Friday!

I tell my clients that all the time…”you only have ten minuteS? That’s ok!! It’s better than zero minutes!” Amen.

I actually love splitting up my exercise throughout the day — 20 minutes of yoga in the morning, 10 minutes or arms/legs/abs in the afternoon and i leisurely walk if i’m feeling extra motivated ;) it’s not much — but i’ve realized that you don’t have to kick you a$$ at the gym for an hour to stay in shape!

Amen sister. It’s hard to make time to exercise, but if you split it up, it can easily be done. I honestly love your website – I think you post such pertinent, informative topics!

Great post! You’re so right, there are no excuses! I noticed that once I made the time for regular exercise, now it feels like “me” time that I don’t want to give up!

Sooo true! I am crazy busy during the semester so the best time for me to workout was at 5am! And the air is just amazing at that time of day :)

Yea, I need to change my thinking.

You are right! It doesn’t take as much time as people say to get fit.

Yes I agree every bit of movement we can intertwine into our day is a good thing.

great article- and something i tell my clients all the time. Your body doesnt know when you exercise, it just knows IF you exercise

Could not have said it better! I have posted a lot about how small increments of exercise are just as good as one 30 minute one. Also, isn’t something better than nothing! Lots you can do in short bouts of exercise & at work, body weight work if your clothes allow! At home, commercial breaks… you can do some stuff!

SO TRUE! I sit all day at work and I keep telling myself that I should go walk around the building on my lunch…something!

So true! I try to get up, but it’s hard when you’re busy!

Reminds me something someone said: “Don’t try to SQUEEZE in exercise into your busy schedule…MAKE it a priority!”

16 South Beach Steve August 14, 2009 at 5:51 pm

You are so right, but like others, I find it hard to exercise in increments less than 30 minutes. I will have to remind myself of your post the next time I ‘don’t have time’.

My friend and I walk the halls at work when we have a chance. Somedays it’s all I get.
