Low-Fat Tortilla Pie Recipe

Mexican Food has gotten a bad reputation in the weight loss realm for all the greasy, gooey, cheese smothering foods. Have no fear though my weight watchers… this recipe will live you in a food coma and still losing weight.Today I thought I would share with you a great low calorie Mexican Food Recipe. Check it out:

Healthy La Tortilla Pie

Ingredients

* 1 cup corn kernels

* Sliced Green Onions

* 1 teaspoon ground cumin

* 1 1/2 cup salsa

* 1 can (15-19oz) low sodium black beans, rinsed and drained

* 4 large La Tortilla Low Carb Tortillas- 80 calories

* 1- 1 1/2 cup fat free shredded cheese

* 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

Directions

* Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spray large cookie sheet

* Over medium heat, add corn, green onions, and cumin. Cook for about 3 minutes. Remove skillet from heat; stir in salsa and beans.

* Place 1 tortilla on cookie sheet. Top with 1/2 cup bean mixture and 1/4 cup cheese. Repeat, starting with tortilla, to make 2 more layers. Top with remaining tortilla and cheese.

* Bake the pie for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro

* Yes low in calories, but extremely high in fat

Any other breakfast sandwich has up to 500-600 calories in each one and the burritos add up to about 800 calories.

The Steak and Egg burrito has a whopping 806 calories with 49g of fat!

The Denver breakfast bowl that looks somewhat healthy with veggies has a grand total of 720 calories with 53g of fat… holy cow that is a lot of fat!

Kids Cheeseburger: 317 calories, 14g fat

The Hamburger Deluxe without the mayo: 280 calories, 11g fat

Avoid all other hamburgers! You won’t find anything under 600 calories. Just three of these small mini sirloin burgers has a whopping 748 calories with 29g of fat!

Chicken:

Mexican food doesn’t have the greatest reputation in the health realm. With those deep fried tortillas, sour cream, guacamole, and greasy cheese you are destined to a heart attack at an early age! But wait one second before you throw all mexican food out the window and avoid it all together.

I found these great low calorie tortillas called the Low Carb/Low Fat La Torilla Factory Tortillas for a whopping 50 calories. They are also loaded with fiber and protein to keep you full longer.
As for the taste, they are amazing!

I love them… and there are so many different ways to use with them.

The Skinny Taco

Ingredients:

* 1/2 original boca burger patty- 50 caloriesTaco1 150x150 Low Carb La Tortilla Factory Tortillas: The Skinny Taco
* Low Carb La Tortilla Factory Tortilla- 50 calories
* Shredded Lettuce- 15 calories
* Taco Sauce- 10 calories

Directions:

* Heat tortilla in skillet for a few seconds
* Cook boca burger in skillet and ground up
* Spread laughing cow cheese over tortilla and add rest of ingrediants

This is a great home-made taco that is huge and filling for only 125 calories!

Add some fruit with light yogurt and you have one great healthy meal
